NCC Camp Organized by 24/K/BN NCC Unit at Chinmaya Mission College, Thrissur

The 24/K/BN NCC unit organized a camp from September 13 to September 22, 2024 at Chinmaya Mission College, Thrissur. This gathering brought together 604 cadets from around 60 institutions, including 35 cadets from Chinmaya Mission College. The camp aimed to instill discipline, teamwork, and leadership in young NCC cadets, providing them with invaluable experiences that would shape their character and skills.

Inauguration Ceremony and Environmental Responsibility

The camp commenced with an inauguration ceremony led by Lt. Col. Brijesh MT, setting an inspiring tone of dedication for the days ahead. A symbolic tree-planting ceremony, headed by Sri P. Krishna Kumar, Principal of Chinmaya Mission College, underscored the camp’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability—core values promoted by NCC.

Competitions and Achievements

The camp has various competitions, creating a dynamic atmosphere of enthusiasm and discipline. Cadets competed in a range of events, showcasing their abilities and dedication. Chinmaya Mission College emerged as a leading competitor, winning 78 medals in total, including 46 medals secured by its own cadets in events such as drill, parade, and obstacle courses. Shika S., a cadet from Chinmaya Mission College, earned the prestigious Best Cadet Award in the girls’ category, marking a proud moment for the college.

Special Programs and Activities

The camp was further enriched by a variety of special programs and activities. CSUO Deepak VS was appointed as the Camp Senior, setting a high standard of discipline and leadership. Cultural bonding was fostered through the celebration of Onam, allowing cadets to experience Kerala’s rich traditions and adding a sense of unity and joy to the camp experience.

Physical and Mental Training

Educational and training sessions enhanced cadets’ physical and mental capabilities. A yoga session, led by Sri Manoj from 24 K BN NCC, introduced relaxation techniques, promoting mental well-being and focus. Physical training, conducted by Sri Joby from TPTC College, Alagappa Nagar, improved cadets’ fitness, strength, and endurance.

Career Guidance and Professional Development

Cadets participated in career guidance and professional development sessions. Dr. CA V. Venugopal delivered a session on career growth and professionalism, while the Kerala Fire Force conducted a disaster management class, equipping cadets with essential skills for handling emergencies. A session on entrepreneurship by a team from Startup Mission inspired cadets to explore innovation and startup opportunities for the future.

Honored Visit and Motivational Influence

The camp was also honored by a visit from Commodore Simon Mathai, the NCC Group Commander from Ernakulam, whose presence provided motivation and inspiration for all cadets.

Honest Shop” Initiative

A unique feature of the camp was the “Honest Shop,” an initiative designed to instill values of honesty and integrity. This shop operated without any salesperson or cashier; cadets were trusted to select their items and deposit the correct amount in a cash box, fostering a strong sense of trust and personal responsibility.

Leadership and Lasting Impact

The 24/K/BN NCC camp at Chinmaya Mission College was a remarkable success, achieving its goal of fostering leadership, responsibility, and teamwork among cadets.
