The Chinmaya Mission as envisioned by our Poojya Gurudev His Holiness Swami Chinmayanandaji Maharaj was set up in 1951 and has 350 centres in India and abroad. It is the nucleus of a global movement of spiritual renaissance and cultural rejuvenation, enfolding under its wings a wide range of spiritual, social, academic, charitable and welfare institutions. The academic institutions under the Chinmaya Mission includes Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth, 75 Chinmaya Vidyalayas under CBSE (spread over various states in India), Chinmaya Mission College, Thrissur, Chinmaya Institute of Management & Technology, Thrissur, Chinmaya Institute of Technology, Kannur, Chinmaya International Residential School, Coimbatore, Chinmaya International Foundation, Veliyanad, Cochin and 6 Arts and Science Colleges. Chinmaya Mission World Wide celebrated Poojya Gurudev's Birth Centenary Celebration in 2015-16.

Chinmaya Mission College had a very humble beginning on 12th August 1975 with His Holiness Swami Dayananda Saraswathi inaugurating the same at Sakthan Thampuran Palace, in Thrissur town. There, our institution grew to such heights, not only in quality but also even in quantity than a regular affiliated college under the University of Calicut. It got shifted to our permanent building at Chinmaya Gardens, Kolazhy Panchayath in 1993 when H.H. Swami Mridananda of Sri Ramakrishna Mission rendered the inauguration. In 1997, our college was the first among the reputed institutions in Thrissur to impart computer education as value added course. From the year 2018, College is the Authorised Training Centre of Kerala State Rutronix to offer PSC/GOVT. Approved courses.

The college celebrated its silver jubilee in the year 1999-2000 and the present strength is 2700 in regular stream and 100 in distance mode. College was the examination centre of Bharathiar University, Annamalai University, University of Calicut. Presently College is the exam centre of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) from 2017, Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India (ICMAI) from 2018, Kerala State Rutronix from 2020.
